Flu season is upon us, so PLEASE, protect yourself and your family by getting the flu shot. The flu affects thousands of individuals every year with the elderly, very young, pregnant, and immunocompromised at an increased risk. We are currently seeing many people come through the ER with flu-like symptoms and our health care system is taking precautions with the emergence of H1N1 Influenza. While there is not yet a vaccine available for H1N1 Influenza, the regular flu vaccine is available. I received my flu vaccine this week and Asher received his flu vaccine last week. I am urging all of my friends and family to get vaccinated as well.
The best way to prevent getting the flu is to be vaccinated.
Also, please remember to wash your hands with soap and water frequently throughout the day. Alcohol based hand sanitizer is also effective at preventing contamination. Avoid putting your hands near your mouth and eyes and cover your mouth if you cough or sneeze.
For more information you can go to the Centers for Disease Control web site at www.cdc.gov

Beach Trip 2009
The last week of August we went to the beach with a few couples. We all have children around the same age. It was SOOOOOOOOO much fun but SOOOOOOOOO tiring at the same time.
Meet Grover, Asher, and Sawyer.
Meet William! You can usually find William cruising around the other boys trying to pick up the food they dropped on the floor or eating their left-overs. And I must add, William is a fanatic for bananas!
Sweet Sawyer!
Hi Asher! He's trying to put sand and sea shells in his mouth. I think he learned it from Grover and Sawyer!
What a View!
Summer Accomplishments...
Well, it's been a very long time since I blogged so I'll try to catch you up on what Asher's been doing this summer. He is now almost 9 months old so he is learning to do so much more now than he could before. This includes:
1. pulling himself up on furniture and cruising around
2. crawling everywhere...and I mean EVERYWHERE
3. eating grown-up food (even vegetables...green peas, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, carrots)
4. saying "ma-ma" and "da-da"
5. laughing out loud and babbling
6. eating paper (i.e. magazines, the mail, etc.)
7. trying to play with electrical sockets (we've had the house baby-proofed for a while now)
We're having a blast watching him grow-up. Here's a few pics from the summer.

Beach Trip #1
Today my Mom and I took Asher on his first beach excursion. We all packed up and went to Orange Beach. Asher played in the sand some, but mostly he just watched everyone around him. He doesn't care too much for the water yet. I could hold him and walk into the water, but if I tried to put his feet in the water he got scared. I think the sound of the waves crashing against the shore made him nervous. Anyways, we enjoyed our time together and took a few pics.
